Again? I though we addressed this a while ago!
It means if you just give the person answers to tests and things you will get kicked off the site for days depending on ho wmany
Another fun post by Amistre!

And informative.
Alot of students just look for people in the same class so they can give answers to them!
Thats true @BrittanyFrench,
"Again? I though we addressed this a while ago!" And yet people still do it. This is just a way for me to send out a mass warning before I go on a suspension spree :)
@amistre64 yeah I see the point lol.. I feel sorry for you guys who have that job! Must get pretty annoying some times
You'd think those Academy Problems would randomly generate answers using different numbers and such
maye perhaps have a givens part to the academy problem so they can generate a larger amount of problems from one single problem|dw:1358948991872:dw|
that way they can generate numerous problems rather than just switching numbers... the last part would be a trig function that you'd need to find out , randomly generated of course
how do we know if ts a test ?
they usually ahve (1 pts) or something on it
oops typo....how do we know if its is part of a test or just homework ?
oh....ok
the usual thing that gets noticed is when they ask: Is anyone taking my class and my exame/assignment?
Or is anybody in CA English 9 or 10.. Something like that
is a warning givin first or is it just suspension right away ?
warning given first usually
^my solution would basically destroy the chance of this even happening
because it wouldn't just be switching the same data for each question ( if they even do that)
does the person asking for the answers, knowing it is a test, get suspended also ?
people who say: here are the answers I got for the work you are doing; get suspended as well, since they are swapping answers
that is fair
The only thing with this site is that if someone is suspended they can just make another account, and the cycle continues...thats the sad part
The college I attend uses sites that have algorithmic questions that change the values
sarah, indeed :)
They don't learn if they don't ask for help properly!
I would not want your job....too complicated
Yeah sarah, they should at least act there age and own up to their responsibility. IF they get out in the real world and try that they're screwed!!
I agree....
Connections Academy code of honor states that they cannot repost the questions; so if they could learn to ask a similar question to get help studying thru ... that would be alot better
True.
yeah, they need to just ask it properly!
How should one approach the "obvious" multiple choice questions that have no "explanation" other than an answer?
good question
What question is that parth
I would see what the asker feels is correct, and then guide them to a better solution ... or verify their own gut feeling
any problem can be explained
any answer can be explained also
Ask what they think, and sorta give them a hint to start the problem out, don't give them straight answers
Take this for example: What is the sum of outer boundaries in a polygon? 1. Area 2. Perimeter 3. Center
I understand
id ask them to define each term
that can be looked up easily, people are just to lazy to look it up
Area can be thought about as blocks in a toy chest, filling the room of the object or shape. Perimeter is measuring all the sides and adding them up
and you typoed that, there should be a (1 point) on it lol
something of that sort
or give them an example of it, and ask what they think it is
Even at that giving them the answer in a paragraph would make them have to read it lol and hopefully allow them to understand it more
that is true...lol
id use heiroglyphs just to be safe :)
haha so true! lol
i'll answer it with a rhyme or riddle
and then change name to "The riddler"
@Outkast3r09 yeah that'll make them work hard to understand it lol
clever
yep and then all you would hear is "You know that one guy named The Riddler. Don't ask him any questions"
lol....
haha that would be Halirious
LOL @ (1 point)
ill be back later to see who I can suspend :) If you see any of those connections academy posts, feel free to respond to them with either this link here or a copy of the title post.
Don't forget to report abuse, kids!
abuse kids?
not a problem.....
lol
sure thing!
bye everybody :)
idk.... those Academy problems only switch the values of the same stuff. They probably also just put "points" too. Must be run by those crazy chemists
@amistre64 maybe u should focus on how slow this site is.
how would me focusing on the slowness of the site solve anything?
maths questions only please
it would improve the site. arent u a mod ?
im a mod yes; not an administrator of the site. I dont have any access or workings of the databases or codes
im sitting here at my college accessing this site the same way you are; i am completely disconnected from those people who actually take care of the site
okay then my bad.
dont for get flvs they are sending messages to all the students that if they are caught on here just getting the answers they will be kicked out of flvs because of os and giving answers
agreed^^^^^^to everything above
@amistre64 nice. there was one case in which something looked like quiz problems, but the student said it was from the practice quiz. then what?
@amistre64 Are you a professor or student?
then you make your best judgement. If the post mentions what school and assignmentthey are doing; it tends to be considered a phisher for answers and not a learning medium.
im a student, but I teach my professors :)
So if we see someone posting tests/quizzes or whatever, do we just post a link of this?
Haha! :-)
posting a link of this is fine; or report abuse the post and let the mods make a call on it.
Okey dokey.. a lot of people just dont care and they go on PM...
yeah, i dislike the PM for that reason. I dont see it as a viable means of learning anything
well I had a question to ask: does the reports that we make when no mod is online also gets attended?
^ also just a general thing . giving answers = bad
downing the chrome, this site is slow enough ... its even slower on the IE
that too lol
Harsh
Did something disappear into the air?
yeh maybe a shooting star ! @amistre64 what If I was the only person who witnessed that post ,reported it and there were no mods online at that time
If it's only you who witnesses, the post doesn't affect anyone but the database. :-)
then youll just have to wait for a mod to see it and respond.
@ParthKohli what if someone else gives away answer without reporting ?
Then you use you (A) to scare dogs out :-)
;)
does (A) scare people I didnt know that lols
ahh the chrome feels so much better
And ye invite the scallywags to this ship: http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct :)
I dont see much of the connections academy post anymore in Maths, so I think the word is catching on; but its rampant in other subject like biology and history and writing and ...
Ye bottle dem cap'n-to-cap'n ;)
What if... all the posts on the left are from Connections Academy but we don't know it yet?
I am keeping a watch :)
today weather was good :)
Thanks ye private!
lipstick on a pig; at least they are not being so blatant about it ... which I can stomach alot easier than the out and out abuse of the good nature of this site.
even if the post are from the CA student, the manner in which we help them is important; which is why giving out direct answers without letting the askers participate in the solution process is still a large part of the mod basket.
True, captain Mistretta!
well i have one link happend an hour before i guess.. i didnt see any action
heres a new icon for ya :) \[\frac12 xx+C\]
@AravindG warnings are not shown to us ... :)
icon for whom ?
ah parth :)
For @AravindG :-) He's in the Amistre team!
for parth, hes trying his level best to represent my icon .. yeah :)
lols you are changing your pic many times a day :)
i changed my pic to a self portrait once and it drove all the girls away :/
"Pictures represent us." i change all the time, so i have to change my pic accordingly :)
ya heres the case I talked about :http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/51040e0ce4b0ad57a5630290 you see the user was probably trying to increase his medal count
amistre did you see that?
which user?
yahoo ....he saw dat i came to help the asker and quickly gave out the direct answer so that he gets the medal
ah, that particular user does that a lot ... id look into it.
yeh this is not the first time :(
ive taken the appropriate actions, thanks for introducing me to the issue!
yw :) ...I have reported him before also but for his luck evrytime he does this no mod will be online
@amistre64 y r u such a smart cookie?
cause im only half baked ;P
bahahahahahahahaha if ur only half baked then i must not be baked at all (;
IS OS getting sued by CA for facilitating cheating?
dunno, Preetha would know more about that :)
