Brain power and perception.. Ok I don't really know whether this would be a physics or biology question.. but definitely an interesting one..If you have seen spiderman movie.. you know that once he gets bit, his brain perception rate increases (things around him appears to slow down, atleast when he gets his spidey sense).. Now I was wondering is this really possible, to increase our brain perception speed.. I mean what does it depend on? Theoretically is it possible for a person to be so fast.. that when 1 second ticks, for him it appears as 5 seconds? cont.

Don't misunderstand me, I am not talking about time dilation and relativity so please don't get started on that :D.. I am only talking about increasing your BRAIN speed... Since different people have different brain speed, we should all have different perception speed.. But why is it not apparent?..

well....being human in real life (not spiderman :D) our brain perception/power doesn't vary TOO much so that things seem to be slowed down for one person and they go fast for other...there is differnce,i agree, but not too much to make it apparant...secondly, one can increase brain perception just by concentration and practice ofcourse..it takes time...but still it may not be too much obvious to make a big difference....naturally, some God-gifted people have the ability to get things very quickly, its natural and research is being made on how their brain chemicals respond while they do calculations and so on...

I see.. but no one has been able to make a breakthrough.. even people who are totally into this concentration and spirituality and meditation and stuff.. I feel.. it must be possible to increase the rate.. but my question is does it require more power?.. meaning would we need to burn more energy per second?

I feel.. so cause punching hard doesn't need power.. its energy .. but landing 6 punches in 1 second DOES need power..! :D

lol power is ofcourse needed since p=w/t when you do something in a very short time...decreased t implies increased power needed

yea.. so as i see.. as we speak or for that matter DO ANYTHING.. we are burning energy at a specific rate.. cause we are constantly doing work.. EVEN IF WE JUST KEEP STARING at a wall.. we are doing work.. cause brain is processing that data.. so in order to increase the rate.. we need to increase out power.. and if you go under martial arts training you can SUBSTANTIALLY increase your power (but only in specific tasks.. like punching or kicking or other sorts).. i mean twice or thrice the average .. .so according to this fact.. even brain power can be increased to twice .. must be possible right??..

yea i guess so...since punch is the response your brain generates...more punches can be made per second only if you have more power than an average one...means you can work on things to get them faster than a normal person

but jack-of-all-trades thing is impossible...you need to find something very specific you wanna do fast..either you wanna punch fast or you wanna memorize things on first sight..it depends

fine .. lets just focus on seeing and processing things fast.. forget about response.. something like.. when we look at a fan spinning with an average speed, trying to be able to see the wings properly :D.. i dunno what to google.. to see any article or content on this!

LOL i googled this "increasing brain perception speed" and got one of the results as this forum :D..

the perception of brain and other responses to stimulis whether sensory or motor or of any other sort depends on the transmission of signals from the nerves in the brain as well as those connecting other parts of the body with brain.....i hope it maybe right

^well you're right..but the point is 'can we work on making this transmission of signals from nerves fast?and making parts of body respond fast'...and i think we can, to some extent...

@Mashy lol if you tried tokeep looking at the wings of a running fan...you'll get hypnotized...why not something useful??like memory building?

you say what i said is not useful :O ??.. you can see bullets.. and then you could even dodge it :O thats useful !!

so yea if we can transmit faster then.. within stipulated amount of time, we can collect more data.. which is like increasing the speed !!

bullets, eh?it'll be nuclear if it ever happened...nuclear war is the possibility..bullet things are a bit old-fashioned now..so why don't start trying on seeing radioactive rays??:D

at last as far increasing the rate of the transmission is considered maybe we can do the following: 1. working out an external nervous system which transmits signals by converting them to a light ray as it has the greatest speed. 2.external processor instead of brain...................hoping against the hope

but i think converting of electric signals into light signals and back takes some time.. and that over head time itself will be more than the time we normally take :P..

no its just superimosition of waves .....................and at the last light itself is an electromagnetic ray so the variation of electric field is quite possibel
