Close. The Jews see it as their homeland and the Christians see it as the birthplace of Christ. Islam, however, began on the Arabian Peninsula under Muhammad's teachings. But the Holy Land, particularly Jerusalem, is important to Muslims because it is believed that the Dome of the Rock marks the spot where Muhammad was taken up into Heaven during his Night Journey.
