y(x) = ax2 + bx + c, this is a parabola if a > 0, the parabola opens upward if a < 0, the parabola opens downward. to find the range for your equation, you need to find the minimum value (vertex) of the parabola. The equation is: x = -b/(2a) when you have x plug it back into the equation and solve for y that is your range.
