If 25% of a number is 45, is the number greater then or less then 45? If 150% of a number is 45%, is the number greater than or less that 45? Explain how you can tell.

    If only 25% of a number is 45, then it must be much larger than 45 because only a small portion of it is equal to 45. In general, if the percent is less than 100 the number is going to be bigger than what's given to you. Otherwise, it is smaller.
