well Its great to have more ambassadors coming , meanwhile I would like to provide some suggestions on the basis of selection .Because more the number, the more we need to be careful about selection .I dont want anyone to spoil the respect for the A symbol . If you have more ideas provide it below:

So here goes : 1. Minumum 30 logged in days ---so that he/she himself understands how the site works 2. Smartscore >=60 --so that the user quality is ensured 3. An open election where all previously elected ambassadors vote will be a good idea . -so that selected ambassadors are accepted by all 4. age >=15 ---to ensure that the person doesnt behave childish

take a look @karatechopper , @Preetha , @saifoo.khan

I do not find any of them interesting but the third. I disagree with the last one particularly, not because that I do not fit that criterion, but that behaving childlishly is based nowhere on age. Here are some people who are under 15: @Opcode @mathslover @karatechopper @ParthKohli

Whoa all of those people are under 15?? Even a mod?? Whoa, but anyway I agree with this except the last one.

The elections are enough to determine the quality of a user. Why do we need all those parameters?!

Number 3 might be a good enough of a idea.

The SmartScore should be higher 60+ Ambassadors don't have to help solve questions... They just greet people... Why is the SmartScore necessary? Like @ParthKohli said... Elections would be a great idea ^_^.

3) open mean open to ambassy ONLY , just to clarify. Anybody should not be even able to see the names of who applied. I suggest that while voting, we need to give them score out of 10 (or 100?) which can be used as metric (10/10 means we think he/she is most eligible). [But again, this score should be known to admins only and not even to other ambassadors.] and an optional field to comment about the applicant.

one more suggestion, (which i feel is important) before finalizing the applicant for ambassadorship, i request admins(because only they can, right ?) to go through the user's message sent (and/or received) so that they are sure about applicant's good behavior on this site. a user can behave very nicely in posts and chats, but can try to flirt/stalk/talk creepy in private messages (if other person reports abuse, then only mods will come to know about it, not the ambassies who are voting) and such users cannot be made ambassador, right ?

While I think it might be an invasion of privacy, I think it might be a good idea anyway.

Sorry, but I don't think ambs will get the choice to vote on other ambs... Ambs are selected by the admins/mods,and the admins have their own method of how to do it :)
Carniel
  • Carniel
Well I agree with it all except the last part @KonradZuse I don't like that v_v Should be choosen by other Ambassadors and or Preetha and a few others. Not people who has nothing to do with Ambassadors :(
KonradZuse
  • KonradZuse
Why would someone who holds the rank get a choice? When you work in the corporate world, do your colleagues get to pick you for promotion? No your boss does. This isn't my rule though, this is how the admins have done it, so who knows what will happen.....
Carniel
  • Carniel
Probably because they have more experience as being an Ambassador? Idk D:?
hartnn
  • hartnn
well. what i feel is that the admins are busy enough to choose among the applicants, so they ask other ambassadors on who can be eligible by making them vote. we just help them take a decision, the final call is, ofcourse, theirs.
AravindG
  • AravindG
ya infact most of the ambassadors are regular users who interact a lot with evryone(the admins at the same time are really busy !) and knows most of the applicant's nature...This is crucial for a good selection rather than reading from the reason mentioned in application form .

I agree with the whole age thing, but a smart score doesnt have much to do with how smart you are, just how much you interact with people.
