I'm interested in how this would be done, too. Are you looking at doing definite or indefinite integration?

Integration (whether symbolical or numerical) is covered by a set of rules. These rules can be programmed in any decent programming language, including C. If you get a stream of (x,y) values and you want to integrate them, you'll need the calculate the Riemann sum If you want to integrate symbols, the program'll be more complex since you'll need to read formulas and operate on them.

built your own parser and implement rules of integrate or differentiate, so you'll get abstract problem solver.
