    the easiest here would be elimination,just add the 2 eqts.

    what's -6 ? if you add :2x=6 find x then substitute in one of the eqts. to find y

    So its the x+x that gives the 2?

    Yes it does and then all you have to do is divide to undo the multiplication. Then you use x value. and plug it into one of the original equations to find the y value.
