    Samuel Gompers said, “Show me the country in which there are no strikes and I will show you that country in which there is no liberty.” What did he mean?

      My guess is that he's speaking to the freedom in being able to protest working conditions through strikes -- to openly voice discontent. A country that suppresses that right is a country that doesn't respect that freedom in his view.
