Why did the United States fail to join the League of Nations?

    A. Great Britain and France would not allow the United States to join the organization. B. Woodrow Wilson and his opponents refused to compromise on the wording of the Treaty of Versailles. C. Americans preferred to join a military alliance with Britain instead. D. Senator Henry Cabot Lodge failed to persuade enough senators that the League would benefit the United States. I'm aiming towards B... But I think I'm wrong. I know it's not D though.
