How do you know that magnesium is the more metallic element in the compound magnesium oxide, MgO? how do I explain this?

    Mg is a transition metal, Oxygen is a non metal

    metallic refers to the least electronegative one

    Mg is alkaline earth metal and oxygen belongs to nonmetallic nature hence when both combine they combine to form MgO
