The screen, it's bigger in hight, better camera... You'd be best browsing the specs pages on Apple.com and comparing them.
That's like asking the difference between two Apple products. Oh wait, that's what you just did. Well, one is shinier than the other, and both have really crappy hardware.
Hah @inkyvoyd That's personal taste Don't call a product crappy just because you prefer another device The new iPhone's form factor is incredible, and it's design quality remains unmatched. The only problem is the software which kinda sucks (which is the most important thing!) and the lack of NFC.
I'm sorry, they'res not way around it: it's thinner then any other mainstream phone.
I did not call both products crappy. I said both products have crappy hardware, and that is true in comparison.
Let's not have a debate, she didn't ask for that. She just wanted to know the difference.
they have more fecher and advaed seed
I do not value "intellectual property" at the price that Apple implies it to be. Thus I give it the title "shiny". I value hardware. The reason is that I typically do resource intensive tasks, and no amount of software (except highly optimized non-portable assembly code or machine language) can easily outmatch hardware programmed normally with software. http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/52895-Smartphones-pure-hardware-comparison http://www.gizmag.com/smartphone-comparison-2012/24901/ Note how Apple products perform slightly less than on par with other new smartphones, but are FAR MORE EXPENSIVE. Yes, I have completely went on a tangent rant. No, I do not regret it at all. My honest advice to @tmybby if they are considering the purchase of a smartphone is not to go with Apple related products. 2 easy reasons. 1. Price for hardware 2. Lock-in (If you use Apple they WILL lock you in - if they don't want you to do something they will make sure you won't, like using your own battery, replacing a broken screen, or even using Flash) If you just want to know the difference in more detail than my original "joke" answer, look in the first choice under the 2012 column and 2011 column of this Wikipedia webpage. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_smartphones PS: Yes, this is a ton of words, read it and take my advice or be ignorant to what I have to say. I am being dead honest with you with my advice though :)
Fandroids: no arguments, please ;)
@dumbsearch2 I do believe I included an answer to the OP's question. Read before you speak :)
OOOoooh I can't believe someone would get SO DARN heated about a phone O_O
I'm not particularly heated about this discussion - if you read *between the lines*, I believe you will realize that most of my heat is directed towards the company "Apple" itself and not towards consumers.
Ugh. Apple debates. It was such a simple question, and then we had to go there. ☺
It was not a debate. A debate takes two or more people. I believe I have taken the entire podium, @erdog82
um "lock you in"? Apple has it's methods they don't want flash they don't *need* flash flash is dying It doesn't even get updates on Android anymore HTML5 is the future... besides, it's really personal preference. The iPhone is much thinner, and some can't take the big form factor of a Samsung Note or even the Galaxy S3. And even Leo Laporte had to admit that the attention to detail, and precision on design remains unmatched.. Sorry, for some, the plastic S3 case doesn't cut it The iPhone 5 won on most durability tests online on YouTube. Will you stop getting so heated over a phone ? Fandroid ? The S3 (the quad-core version, which doesn't have 4G as far as I know) beats the iPhone 5 in speed, yes, slightly faster. Now the 4G version of the S3, which isn't quad-core, the iPhone beat... so let's be objective. I love the fact that most Android phones have NFC, and the software is quite a bit better then iOS in many ways, but let's not yell over a phone.
How fast do you guys type? @dumbsearch2 @inkyvoyd
Not sure. ~70WPM. Because I do NOT in fact own a smartphone (believe it or not I own a old motorola flip phone razer), and because I'm sick of eating podium, without further ado, I present to you (NSFW) http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone Rated PG-13 ish, so viewer discretion is advised.
Obviously fast enough ;P
@inkyvoyd That page is so outdated. Sorry. You can record videos with an iPhone.
You were saying that the iPhone had crappy software so I defended it. You were fighting. And saying that a flip-phone rocks is a joke. A smartphone is always more flexible, and has quite a few more features.
"320x480 res" a joke ? the iPhone now has some of the highest res of any smartphone That link sucks its old as heck It didn't even know about the App Store :P Its prolly very old Besides the language is so vulgar I wouldn't be surprised if it was a joke in the first place
@erdog82 , the page is not accurate either. The page is meant for enjoyment, rather than to be taken as seriously as this conversation is evidently @dumbsearch2 - I said the iphone had shiny software. I do not know of smartphone software capabilities but I do know based off sample testing and looking at my sister's ipad that iOS and the like ARE shinier. I say this word without positive or negative bias. I did mention that the hardware is bad, and I tried to cite that. Of course my flipphone sucks. I'd rather spend 150 dollars on http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-MZ-7TD250BW-Series-Solid-2-5-Inch/dp/B009NHAEXE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362789766&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+840 (which I actually did) for my two hard drive laptop than by a smartphone and have to worry about being constantly distracted etc. (not gonna lie they sound nice but SSD sounds nicer). Final thing, read maddox's other pages. He's not a fan of Apple, but he's not taking the discussion as seriously as a lot of people are.
I don't mind that they're shiny How is that even relevant to the debate ? The hardware is bad? You even said "crappy" earlier Maybe you should read all of this um "lock you in"? Apple has it's methods they don't want flash they don't *need* flash flash is dying It doesn't even get updates on Android anymore HTML5 is the future... besides, it's really personal preference. The iPhone is much thinner, and some can't take the big form factor of a Samsung Note or even the Galaxy S3. One final moral note: Apple, I believe, is eviller than most corporations that sell similar products.. I will not cite this, because one truly interested in this topic would do further research to prove or disprove my comments.
@dumbsearch2 , I realize that you have a lot to say about hardware - please cite your references accordingly, otherwise they are kinda empty.
"eviler"" LOL how ? I love this! "I will not cite this" :P Obvious trolls are obvious Besides, my arguments make sense ? Care to understand ? Or is apple EVILL YEAHAHHHH APPPPLLLEEE WANTS TO KILL THE WORLD OMG THEY'RE SHINY OMG!
"Unfortunately for Galaxy S3 fans that would like to hear the Galaxy S3 does better than the iPhone 5, the tests performed showed that in all cases the Galaxy S3 is mentioned, the iPhone 5 does better than the Android handset. It’s worth pointing out that the article was not a comparison with Android devices but rather testing against the previous-generation iPhone, which was also updated to iOS 6."
"We crown the iPhone 5 speed king after pitting it against every other iPhone we’ve tested, along with today’s top Android phones. The iPhone 5 looks to be the fastest smartphone we’ve ever tested at PCMag.com."
I do not believe that Apple, or any other "evil corporation" would seek to kill the world. There is no point in destroying that which you feed on :) On a side note, simply compare philanthropic actions of CEOs of the companies. And then compare what the companies have done themselves. In other words, how much money did Steve Jobs donate? At least Microsoft and the like of modern tech companies *pretends* to care.
And yes, the quad-core S3 is faster... but that's not 4G
I was being sarcastic about killing the world
You were criticizing hardware and products... why bring their philopshys and morels into this ? why bring job's donations or lack thereof ?
Okay. I have strayed from the original point. And, I have not correctly stated what I meant in terms of hardware. More specifically, Apple hardware does not perform on par for the cost you pay. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-iPhone-16GB-Black-Unlocked/dp/B0097CZBH4/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363034399&sr=1-2&keywords=apple+iphone+5 http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-GT-I9300-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B007VCRRNS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1363034388&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3 For the PRICE you pay, which one is more worth it? If you can find a better comparison, please show me.
I'd also push this conversation into Apple computers (specifically laptops), but that again would be kind of a topic shift.
Also, the huge increase of RAM in the S3 seems far more beneficial than the small performance gain the iphone has. Obviously from my slip-ups I'm fairly ignorant, but the ability for multitasking is extremely valuable as well.
Then, inky pinky ponky reads the comments section, and starts the long journey of copy-paste to regain podium. "The problem with these bench's is that they're only written for dual core devices, The iphone5 may show an increase over the s3 in dual core bench's but when it comes to quad bench's it is a different story." that again suggests the more powerful multi-tasking capabilities of the S3?
I think this clears everything up, with no opinions, just facts from Apple itself. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/compare
As far as which phones are better, Apple or not, you'll most likely get biased answers. I like the iPhone, yet the Galaxy catches my attention as well. As far as which has better quality, I have no clue... though apple products tend to lead compared to android models.
@jazy , please elaborate on that. Besides not liking the company itself, I don't really like their policy on their products. things like a non-removable battery, lock-in (yes they do do this). I'm sure there's other people who have well-phrased my hate, but I'm not good at this kind of thing Also, what do you mean, that they tend to lead?
I meant as in the popularity of their products. Not only in the phone products, but also tablets... Apple is popular, and that's why people like it. It might not be the best phone, or the coolest, but because its Apple, its "in". And I completely agree that their policies are not the best regarding some products. :/
I'm not sure if the battery-life has gotten any better lately, because that was a major let down. After just 1 year and a half, my mom's iPhone started malfunctioning.
I love doing differences. The difference between this post and the others is that others are on-topic... :|
Apple is known for their durability, and IDK, just in my experiences I've never once had a problem with either my iPod touch or my iPad... Yes, Apple's innovation is lacking... but why "hate" a smartphone ? Why be so passionate about it, calling it crappy ? It's just a phone! "The problem with these bench's is that they're only written for dual core devices, The iphone5 may show an increase over the s3 in dual core bench's but when it comes to quad bench's it is a different story." True stuff, but as I have stated countless number of times, the quad core is NOT 4G. Now the duo-core IS 4G, and the iPhone leads... though note that even with the quad-core version, the difference is very slight (According to some YouTube benchmarks I've seen)... I think the lack of NFC sucks, and the software is getting stale and old, but I find most of the hardware quite pleasing! It's also definitely much thinner then the S3... and the S3's plastic case bothers me. As I've repeated previously, the iPhone beats it on most durability tests. Yes, I know it's very expensive, but why call a phone crappy only because you can't afford it ? For me, the phone for the best deal would be the Nexus 4. Can't beat vanilla Android, and it's quad-core specs. I just want to be objective and just declare a phone "crap" because it's not the best value out there... The iPhone would be a better fit for some people. Not everyone wants to hold a phone with two hands!
