Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.5K has an oxidation number of +1 O has an oxidation number of (2) x 4 So... the oxidation number for Mn is whatever is needed to make 18 equal to zero. Therefore, the oxidation number for Mn is +7

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.1@pooja195 is correct. Mn is one of the only first row transition metals known to carry +7 charge.
