Yes, it's a very good class and I'm in algebra 2 right now, but they just sent out a message saying that we we are not allowed to use openstudy anymore.
amistre64
  • amistre64
familiar with ... and go to, theres a fine distinction :)
anonymous
  • anonymous
But openstudy has really helped me. Do they know when you're on it?
amistre64
  • amistre64
openstudy has been abused as of late by connections academy and flvs students to cheat on assignments
anonymous
  • anonymous
Yeah, well, thanks to those people, we aren't allowed to use it anymore.
amistre64
  • amistre64
see if posting a "similar" question is ok by the school; or is it that openstudy is banned altogether?
anonymous
  • anonymous
What about students who really need help? Some of the resources on the school arent very helpful.
amistre64
  • amistre64
needing help studying material is one thing; needing to get answers for tests is another. study help should always be available, while we do out best to curb those who "need help" cheating.
anonymous
  • anonymous
That's what I'm saying, but the principle said it was banned all together. I use this site responsibly and I really appreciate it.
amistre64
  • amistre64
then im sure you should follow the schools ruling
anonymous
  • anonymous
I agree. Maybe you can find a similar site. :( I only come on here to help people and every now and then ask a question.
anonymous
  • anonymous
uhmm @beesknees01 i have flvs, im on it now, and i never got a message about openstudy.com
anonymous
  • anonymous
@mikaa_toxica13 it came through this morning. Are you in algebra 2?
anonymous
  • anonymous
It came form Cynthia Alloway
anonymous
  • anonymous
it is not clear to me how some one can "ban" a web site. if you are sitting at home studying, and have questions, how exactly does someone keep you from asking it on OS?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Its called online school. The instuctors can see everything that goes on your account.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Can they really? That's creepy..
anonymous
  • anonymous
Well, wait. Yeah, they can see everything going on in our account, but can they see what tabs we open outside that?
anonymous
  • anonymous
Im not very sure but they look at how long your on, when you stop working and when you get back on.
anonymous
  • anonymous
No they cant, they can only see if something is highlighted and what site its highlighted from
anonymous
  • anonymous
Correct.
anonymous
  • anonymous
And yes im in algebra 2. they cant see all that, htey dont have THAT much power
anonymous
  • anonymous
i think it would take only a limited amount in imagination to get around such a silly ban
anonymous
  • anonymous
besides , students will come on here and y!a and any other site. they dont care.
anonymous
  • anonymous
So, basically, they can see if we plagiarize.
anonymous
  • anonymous
yes. when i ned help witha question and have to highlight it, i jus highlight the whole page and told them my pc is messed up. so they cant tell on my account
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
Don't risk your education for a few quick answers.
anonymous
  • anonymous
yeah. they have a special program.
anonymous
  • anonymous
im not risking it. if i get caught they give me a quick call and its over. not a big deal. besides i have a bright future, so im not worried
anonymous
  • anonymous
@skullpatrol I don't want to cheat. I need help and their tutoring on there sucks.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
You could get a "required to withdraw" notice!!!
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
End of story.
anonymous
  • anonymous
not for a few questions. and i always ask for explainations and not jus the answer.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
If you knowingly IGNORE the ban you are taking a risk.
anonymous
  • anonymous
im not ignoring anything. i never got a msg.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
I'm not talking about you. Just in general.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
They could easily send spy "teachers" in here, right?
anonymous
  • anonymous
I don't want to get kicked out of my class, I'm just severely pissed off at those kids who are too lazy to do their own work and got us all in trouble.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@beesknees01 dont listen to anyone but think about what would effect you. im not saying effect you in a bad way im meaning like you getting help with your questions.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@skullpatrol Probably, but I'm not doing anything wrong.
anonymous
  • anonymous
not that your dumb or nothing but to where when you do need help you have it.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
Again, I'm just talking generally. @beesknees01
anonymous
  • anonymous
@skullpatrol yes tehy could send spy techers here, but they always have flvs in their username, and all they can see is questions, unless someone puts their real name on here they wont know the difference.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
These "spy-teachers" could come in here and see who is abusing the system.... and use computer programmers to track down the users through their IP address...with the cooperation of Open Study this can be done, the next step is "REQUIRED TO WITHDRAW"
anonymous
  • anonymous
well ive been doing this for 2 years and never got one. so either they cant tell, or they dont care.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
This is all just my opinion, so make your own choice and live with it.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
If you learn through using the library on your own, you will be better off in the long run.
anonymous
  • anonymous
my parents are too cheap and lazy to take me to the library
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
Take control of YOUR education and go there yourself. Let me emphasize LONG-RUN Education began in libraries... and there is a lot of information there for those who are willing to look
anonymous
  • anonymous
@skullpatrol are you a spy? lol
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
@beesknees01 No, I don't give out answers as @mikaa_toxica13 knows.
anonymous
  • anonymous
who said i ont want to ? im not gunna walk for 3 hours to get to a library when i can get teh same informationa nd then some by searching on the internet.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@beesknees01 skullpatrol is the only user i know that is actually helpful. i dont have toa sk for an explaination, its already given.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
If I was a spy, I would just give you the answer and see if you used it on the test, right?
anonymous
  • anonymous
well if another student had the same answer, u could only assume it had to be one of those two students right ? but there are A LOT of students who use this site and flvs, so there really isnt a way to trace it if u dont know their real name.
anonymous
  • anonymous
When I post questions on here, I usually do the work myself and then ask someone to check it for me. If I don't understand a problem at all, I ask them what the first step is to solving the problem and then I work it out.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
That is where the IP address comes in.
anonymous
  • anonymous
I emailed my algebra teacher and stated my opinion. If he says no means no, then I'll respect the flvs ban and not go on here anymore. even though that would be very disappointing.
anonymous
  • anonymous
im always in InPrivate browsing soo its untraceable

"Cheating" in math has been going on for hundreds of years, in fact those that study Physics find it perfectly acceptable to use math as only a tool; if you you went to a university library you would be truly amazed.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@skullpatrol Yes, I know that. Cheating in general has been going on for forever. It's just human nature, but I don't want to cheat! I just use this site strictly for help, NOT THE ANSWERS.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
Unfortunately a few bad apples have ruined the pie :(
anonymous
  • anonymous
@beesknees01 I have FLVS too! What claases are you taking?!
anonymous
  • anonymous
@carlaelaine Right now I'm just taking algebra 2, I just finished my government class.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@skullpatrol yes, unfortunately.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@beesknees01 I'm taking Liberal Arts, Marine Science and English 4, the classes are pretty easy:)
anonymous
  • anonymous
well i dont cheat.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@carlaelaine Dang, what grade on you in? I love english. I'm dual enrolled at hcc and I take English there.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@mikaa_toxica13 Neither do I, but apparently no one cares.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@beesknees01 11th, and really me too! I like the class on there. and what about you>? what grade are you in:)
anonymous
  • anonymous
Wow, you must be pretty smart to be in those classes. Also in 11th.
anonymous
  • anonymous
@carlaelaine
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
@beesknees01 I care.
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
The best advice I can give is "go to the library."
anonymous
  • anonymous
and when u cant get to a library ?
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
Find a way, where there is a will there is a way.
anonymous
  • anonymous
You dont have to PHYSICALLY go to the library. There are online library resources. I read books online all the time.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Why would I go to the library for math help?
anonymous
  • anonymous
They have math books to help you with math.
anonymous
  • anonymous
Like @skullpatrol said 'go to the library'
skullpatrol
  • skullpatrol
You are going there to look for books that explain what you are studying in class... different books give different explanations and different examples to learn from, right?
anonymous
  • anonymous
I guess so, anyway, thanks for answering for my questions and giving me pointers. I may or may not be back on this site. When I need help with a math problem next time, I'll go to a book.
