Which of the following statements is true regarding the effectiveness of contingency contracts when used with children? They are consistent and there is no room for reinterpretation of the rules. Children can change the rules as needed, at any time. They are flexible and are regularly subject to change on an as-needed basis. Parents can back down on a promised privilege. Parents always forget about the contract.

A CONTINGENCY CONTRACT is an agreement. A very CLEAR agreement, where both people in the agreement promise something. For example...let's talk about a mother and child. Mom might promise that if the child does her chores everyday, on time, then mom will take the child out for ice cream, on Saturday. BUT if the child does not complete her chores, then the child will be grounded for the entire weekend. It's a very clear two-way street, you see? The mom promises to give a reward, IF the child does what she is supposed to do. The child promises to do what she is supposed to do. And the punishment, for failing to complete the chores, is very clear. Everything is very clear. The rules will not change, and they are not flexible.
