## KrystaRenee What are the coordinates of the vertex of the graph? Is it a maximum or minimum? (1, 0); minimum (0, 1); maximum (0, 1); minimum (1, 0); maximum I think it's the first option. one year ago one year ago

2. modphysnoob

it's second one

3. KrystaRenee

But it's going downwards. I thought when it went downwards it was minimum?

4. modphysnoob

no, that point is highest in parabola isn't? when parabola is downwards it has maxmimum

5. KrystaRenee

Ohhh, yes. You're right.

6. KrystaRenee

But why 0,1? I thought it was 1,0?

think about it maximum is highest...minimum is lowest...if you go up a hill you wil get to the highest point or the maximum peak...if you go down into a vally you will soon be able to go no further...you will be at the minimum or lowest point...that is how porabolas work

8. modphysnoob

it is x,y

9. modphysnoob

since it is shifted up by 1 , (0,1)

10. KrystaRenee

Ohh ok. That makes sense now. Thanks for the explaination.

no problem
