If a line is parallel to one side of a triangle and intersects the other two, then it divides them proportionally. So, x is to (x + 5) as (x - 2) is to (x + 1) x/(x+5) = (x-2)/(x+1) Cross multiply and solve for x.

I know you can multiply these: x(x+1) = (x+5)(x-2) Do the left side and then do the right side.

My ping/tag notification does not work on this site. If you are looking for me, send a web mail, I suppose. I asked the Techs to repair that function but so far, no repair.
