Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0If a line is parallel to one side of a triangle and intersects the other two, then it divides them proportionally. So, x is to (x + 5) as (x 2) is to (x + 1) x/(x+5) = (x2)/(x+1) Cross multiply and solve for x.

Best ResponseYou've already chosen the best response.0I know you can multiply these: x(x+1) = (x+5)(x2) Do the left side and then do the right side.
