*facedesk* You don't say?
People have brought this up before, but it's not like anyone can do much to change it.
yea but there has to be something a mod dosent reply on time an the prson gets away with answers
They all do. Mods obviously don't care.
exactly y we should do something
They say they do, yet all they tell you to do is report it, and I never see anything done.
which is y i want to bring more attention to that :)
pooja just no lol
Agent, you never see anything done because mods do not discuss disciplinary matters involving specific users with other users. Would you appreciate it if we discussed some of your, ah, putative indiscretions with other people? I think not. Believe me, we get the abuse reports and we act on them. That said, not everyone is clear on the concept of helping without cheating. Some people take some time to learn. Some figure it out themselves. Others need a sterner guidance. I'd go out on a limb and say that if you look at the long term users here, we either drive out the cheaters or make them reform. With one or two exceptions, but exceptions rather than the rule.
Lol why would I care? Everyone knows I act up. It wouldn't bug me much.
@blues , I think @Agent_Sniffles means that there is a lack of real-time suspension here at openstudy. If she does in fact mean that, I totally agree. The problem is, how are you going to block all the illegit test and homework answers? that would be over 90% of this site's traffic...
That sounded a bit caustic, so I might wanna rephrase that. Many of OS's users are cheaters (including me, whether or not us helpers choose to believe so). Some people that (overly?) abuse this site need to be actively kicked, and those that don't care also need a restriction on question posting so they take learning more seriously and getting homework done less seriously.
Of course, the admins may not agree with this. However, much experience between me helping out apathetic users and observing more professional sites like math.stackexchange (professional but not friendly necessarily) have led me to believe that in order for one to want to learn it has to be beneficial. It's beneficial in the long term I assume, but kids (like us) need a short term benefit in order to be motivated. In other words, by only allowing us to ask a few questions we will be better pushed toward actually learning the material (no, people are NOT that stupid and do NOT need step by step work throughs to FIVE questions of the same type) instead of having others do it for us.
There is a SUPER HUGE posr about cheating which took place in MissteacherLady's post ...Just check that out ..
Listen up buttercup. There is nothing the staff can do about cheating other than respond to reports and be alert. There is no system or firewall that prevents an account from cheating. I don't see admins blocking word phrases linked to cheating or blocking copy and pasted homework sheets. All the student would have to do is change one character to get past the system. An increase in security is a bad idea as a larger staff needs more admins to monitor and make sure no abuse is spreading. Though, as the site gets bigger the staff will increase, but for now, the staff is fine. They do their job fine, as well. If you see someone cheated just report them. Easy as that. If they get suspended and continue to make cheat accounts the mods will know and start lengthening the punishments. Maybe even an IP ban. Adieu
there @Compassionate i agree
