## Yolo4mecuite 2 years ago I need help solving this and checking my work: |c + 12| = -12 C = ??? |r - (-3)| = 6 R = ????

1. Hope_nicole

im not sure about the first one because its a negative...is there an option such as not possible?

2. Yolo4mecuite

noo

3. Hope_nicole

hmmm...well for the second one is it really saying the absolute value of r+3=6 so what number(s) make that true?

4. Yolo4mecuite

3

5. Hope_nicole

yupp...since it is an absolute value though what is the negative solution? what negative number plus 3 makes -6(since it is an absolute value equation if it is a -6, then it will be a 6)

6. Yolo4mecuite

-9

7. Hope_nicole

correct! for the first one im not really sure how you do that @dmezzullo might know.

8. Yolo4mecuite

Oh ok thanks :))))

9. dmezzullo

@Hope_nicole U are funny. How smart do u think i am?

10. Hope_nicole

just the first one! its not possible isnt it?

11. dmezzullo

idk wut this is :P

12. Hope_nicole

@Yolo4mecuite , i would honestly put not possible. absolute value means that no matter whats inside of it it will turn out positive.

13. Yolo4mecuite

ooooo ok

14. hartnn

since, |....anything...| can never be negative, there is NO SOLUTION for C.
