Mathematics only predicts what will happen given conditions, asking why something happens is meaning less beyond semantic and cultural implications. with mathematics we are content with knowing what happens. for gravity that is the gravity equation. for more on questions watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjmtJpzoW0o

Basically, there are two (confirmed) theories about gravitation: Newtonian model: gravity is originated by mass and follow the classical newtonian equation of inverse squares. That means, that the mass of earth attract objects due to the mass content of the bodies. Einstein model: gravity comes from the spacetime curvature due to the presence of energymatter. That means, that the energymatter of earth curves the space so all energymatter around earth should follow the "geodesic" generated by this curvature.

gravity in not only the property of earth every thing which has some mass and certain size to occupy space in the world has this property since earth has a large mass it has more gravity when comes to sunn its even its all some what related to culoumbian forces and magnetic forces every thing is interlinked

every thing you see occupies a definite volume in space and by virtue of its mass, it'll try to sink in space and thus it makes up a basket like curvature. when a particle having defn mass comes near such an object, it'll try to sink in this basket and hence will move with greater speed towards the former object.

In the new studies.. some scientists suggest tht gravity is due to the sub atomic particals "GRAVITONS"
