    Avoirdupois pounds have 16 ounces, troy pounds have 12.

    1 Pound is equal to 16 ounces (oz). So 16 goes into 30 1 time with 14 left over. So you have 1lb, 14oz OR 1.875lbs

    Yeah, I was just being beat and was playing around. :-) Troy is pretty much only used in scientific work and for weighing precious metals. The rest of the world uses avoirdupois... :-)
