There should be an auto-spam detector that detects when you post many times in a row.
Penalties could be:
1. Notifies mods so they can judge the situation and carry out actions accordingly.
2. First warns the user not to post that fast, if they continue then auto suspend (or ban if there is a good reason to, such as inappropriate usernames)
3. Auto-suspends the user (maybe until the mods review the situation? this seems a little harsh but might be what we need)
Also I still have my previous request here: http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/51670aade4b048d977f8142c

Tell me if you think this is a good idea :D
I am just tired of the spammers and I think this may be a better idea than my previous one was because most people don't post that much at once.
This may or may not work, auto spam may also detect that people are asking a lot of questions. With the auto spams i have seen in the past if the mods don't react to the notification in time the user would be temp banned (ones i have seen did a week). SO this may or may not be a good idea, refine the consequences (punishment intends that it is always wrong to post many times)
@KeganMoore I agree with refining the consequences, that's why I gave multiple options. Usually this would only apply to the chat boxes, as I haven't seen much spam in the question section.

I have a deep hatred for chat boxes/rooms lol.
I thought you were expanding your idea. So never mind. Possible help you be to make it to where when the person spams it sends a message of what they spammed to a moderator.
If this idea is edited then it will be a good idea.
There should be a time lapse between frequently posted comments, like comments being posted within 1 second. We can insert a break of 3-4 seconds between the next comment of a user.
I think so.
@mathslover I agree that there should be a time amount between posts. A chat website that I have used before (don't remember the name) has a time amount of about 2-4 seconds. If you post before that time it will suspend you for about 10 seconds. I don't know if it should be 10 seconds long, but it is a good idea as a start.
I think the best way to counter-act spam should just be to report spammers with the Report Abuse link.
@wio We already do that, but it usually doesn't work FAST enough.
If you hate the chats so bad, just put them in zen mode and ignore them. Simple.
I could careless as long as they are not opened up on my screen. I might have not liked it then but i am fine now
or an auto perv detector :D) like if a certain word is said you're conversation is immediately read... that'd be nice :P
or they actually take serious action when someone reports an account..
Sexual harassment has also been an issue. At least for me. This isn't a freaking dating website.
yeah ikr??? it's like ooohhh ya know they reported this person we'll tak care of it next week.... honestly so many girls on here are sexually harassed on here it's rediculous... they don't know how much of a negative affect that can be. And sometimes just reporting or blocking them isn't enough!!!!! UGGG
It's really annoying and disgusting for that matter. One guy even asked if I want to see his you know what (can't type it out on here). Come on, dude. You're really that desperate?
Yes, it does seem that reports don't have a lot of effect most of the time. (or at least visible effect)
ikr?? one guy asked if i wanted to play truth or dare and i didn't think it was a good idea so i didn't answer so he did it anyway and asked me if i shaved my.... yeah i can't type it out on here but i was like, honestly, ur that low and $hity that ur giong to aska girl that??/ UGGG it frustrates me!!
ummm yeah sooo i reported him and he's talked to me through chat box since then.
