    I was taught last sentence, maybe it depends on teacher preference! :)

    The first sentence and then you restate your thesis in the last sentence.

    I was taught the last sentence also. I guess it typically goes in the last part of your paragraph, but that all depends on what rules you have to follow for your paper.
