And it's actually 2:2 i am sorry. U can use a punnett square to figure out. It's Yy because it is heterozygous, since Y(yellow) is dominant so it can only be yellow.|dw:1370312593735:dw|

If you use a punnett square, it will make much more sense. Take one parent genotype and cross is with the other parent's genotype. You know that one offspring will get XX and two that are Xx, those three will have yellow phenotype. The fourth will be xx and will be green.The ratio is therefor 3:1 because even if the XX and Xx are different genotypes, they both result in the a yellow phenotype
