a column vector is a form of vector, the transpose (i think that the write word) is the 90 degree rotation of it into a row vector [-1] [ 2 ] --> [-1,2] which of course can be notated in several different vector notations from baby calculs to real analysis: <-1,2> is popular by alot of authors (-1,2) is a prefered method in real analysis since all vectors are addressed in standard position, and in standard position it simply arrows to a point.
