Seriously? No, you didn't. I am certain you can change \(5x-35\) into \(5(x-7)\).

Factors and terms are not the same thing. All there is to do with this expression it to factor the denominator.

\(\dfrac{3x-5}{5x-35} = \dfrac{3x-5}{5(x-7)}\) That's it. Now, what happens when you try x = 7 in that last expression?

You cannot get 16. The denominator is zero (0)! You seem to be ignoring that important fact.
