I'm just working through this assignment and its the last question .... its really long and tedious. I have to describe various characteristics of light using the wave model and particle model of light. I get what linear propagation is but I just wasn't really sure how to explain it using the models of light. Anything would be helpful I guess lol
First thing is that rectilinear propagation of light is virtual interpretation of eye caused by diffraction. But i want to answer the question straight forward. So, you have to understand that there are millions of phenomena in nature which can be explained by rectilinear propagation of light. Most of the expert of physics want to explain all these phenomena by wave theory of light but due to some approximation wave phenomena is treated like rectilinear propagation.
