First use trigonometry to find X, so from SOH CAH TOA, we only have Opposite and Adjacent sides to work with therefore we'd use TOA so tan (angle) = Opposite side length/ Adjacent side length tan 36 = x / 13 x = 13 times (tan 36) so grab a calculator and solve for x then use the pythagorean theorem to find the Hypotenuse. hypotenuse squared = side a squared + side b squared h^2 = x^2 + 13^2 \[h = \sqrt{\left( x ^{2} + 13^{2} \right)}\]
