“While the Industrial Revolution had both positive and negative effects on society and the economy, the positive effects outweighed the negative.” “While the Industrial Revolution had both positive and negative effects on society and the economy, the negative effects outweighed the positive.”

I think it's the second one because while the industrial revolution did bring about such things as mass production and inventions like the steam engine and cotton gin, it also caused people to lose their jobs, and the jobs that were left were terrible. People were often deformed from working in factories and many people died while doing their jobs, especially people who worked in the mines. The population increased drastically which was good for the industrial revolution, but bad for the people because there were too many people and not enough jobs, food, money, or living spaces. Cities were covered with soot from the large factories and small children were forced to work alongside their parents in order to make enough money to feed their families. I think that the industrial revolution was necessary for us to be able to enjoy life the way it is today, but the easy lives we live today came at a great cost.

I think this question could go either way depending on your opinion of the industrial revolution
