in the triangle AOB, i am using the formula of tan . tan (theta) = (AB) / (AO) where AB = diameter of the image of sun. AO = focal length of mirror.. now understood?

\[(\frac12)^o~\frac{pi}{180}=\frac{pi}{360}radians\] \[15m\frac{100cm}{1m}=1500~cm\] i get about 13.1 from that but im not sure what the difference between F and f is to be certain

yes, the ques. in the attachment and the one you asked for are the same. both should be dealt in the same way, but the answer you arrived upon is not right. the answer should be (D) 6.55cm in the triangle AOB, using the formula \[\angle = \frac{ arc }{ radius. }\] angle = 0.5 degrees = (0.5 * pi)/180 radians. arc = what you need to find. radius = 7.5m ( not 15m here) look at the figure i drew earlier. putting these values in the formula, you get answer 0.065m = 6.5cm
