A. Substances that are polar in nature. The reason is because when something is polar it has a positive and a negative end. In water there is autoionization which means the water splits into H+ and OH- and reforms into H20 spontaneously. Since this occurs a polar molecule will attract to the ionized water, the plus side of the molecule will atractive hydroxides (OH-) and the minus side of the molecule will attract hydrogen ions (H+). :)

polar means a separation of charge, these can also be partial charges (denoted by a lower case delta (\(\delta\)), like in water.|dw:1377624198578:dw| polar substances become surrounded/enveloped by the water molecules and thus is homogenized.

The ions, \(H_3O^+\;and\;OH^-\), in pure water are present at very minimal concentrations (\(1.0*10^{-7}\)) and have no effect on the dissolution of substances.
