are you talking about on a box and whipser plot? well it depends on the different circumstances

also note that outliers and extreme values are not the same thing, but calculators (my calculator as least) make no distinction

okay well I will do my best to describe it but i will attach a picture too. usually the main values are in the box section of your plot. Then, the outliers of your data are where the whiskers end.

Yeah I know what it is and all just whether or not the outlier has a symbol is confusing me :/
