For this paper, you will be writing an explication of a poem 5 – 8 paragraphs. You may choose any of the poems we have read in this unit. A poetry explication is an explanation of what you believe the message of the poem is. Because you will be explaining your own personal interpretation of the poem, you will need to gather some evidence to support your ideas about the poem. The goal of an explication is to “illuminate” the meaning of the poem for other readers. First of all READ the poem. Read it several times. Read it aloud. Notice the way it looks on the page, the way the words sound when you read them aloud, and anything the words make you think about. You will probably have to look some words up in the dictionary—remember that the definition you know might not be the ONLY definition there is. Once you feel like you have formed some good initial ideas about the poem, you can begin to really examine the tools (literary devices) that the poet used to create the poem. @chaylacryder help me with this i have no idea what to do ????
can i choose the same poem that i coose for the other question
alright for this question i have no idea what explication is or what they mean by it
It says what it is in the paragraph above. 'A poetry explication is an explanation of what you believe the message of the poem is.'
I explained the basics to you in your other question, but this is wanting your own opinion about its message, and having it written down in your own words.
i can guess the message of the poem but i can never up 5 paragraphs... i think it will not exceed 1 even
You'll first need an introduction, which you could span to about a paragraph. Explain which poem you chose and why. There's four main parts to the poem, and you can break those into paragraphs of their own. After that you can summarize the main points of your paper into a conclusion, which should be another paragraph. All together you could have about 6-7 paragraphs
remember, paragraphs are only 4-5 sentences, and if you're careful with your wording, this should be generally easy
ok i will post it when i write it down can you check it later before i submit
