Have you considered Subtracting 4x or adding 1?

we want the x's on one side and everything else on the other side. So first, subtract 6x from both sides or another way would be to add 1 to both sides. Do one of those and we will continue.

I do. Too bad we don't see anything done by the OP.

the goal is to get all the x's on one side of the equal sign and all the numbers without an x on the other

i meant to say add instead of subtract (all those times)

first. add one from both sides since it says -1. in order to move something to the opposite side, you must do the opposite of what it originally says
anonymous

after adding one to each side. you get 4x+8 = 6x. so now all we have left to do is to get the x's on the same side. so since 4x is a positive. subtract it to the other side (opposite of positive)

then we have 8 = 2x and to get x alone, you do the opposite of 2 times x and divide it out. When you do then, the number always goes to the bottom like this ---> 2x / 1/2 = x

so then you have 8/2 =x
