So to let the reader know who "her" is, you should put Jing mei instead for the first one ;) so like this: It was very important to Jing Mei's mother that her friends and family came, and it makes bigger conflicts between the mother and daughter. Instead of "makes" i think you should put cause, it'll be a better word ;) but the rest is perfect!!!!! :D
