i can teach you how to graph it

Plug in zero for y and solve for x and that is the x intercept. Plug in zero for x and solve for y and that is the y intercept

this is slope intercept form now specifically y intercept ..... |dw:1378255394828:dw| b is the y intercept (or where the line crosses the y axis and m is the slope of the line. (rise/ run)

in y = 1/2x + 2 you need to start the line on the y axis ....and the y intercept is what?
Ammarah

-2,-1,0,1,2

to graph this you need to start at the y intercept ammarah ....according to the equation y = (m)x + b b is the intercept y = (1/2)x + 2 is your equation so what is the intercept

|dw:1378255970812:dw| the y axis will have the y intercept on it and the y instercept is 2 so thats where you will start the line . now the slope of the line is the m or rise/run if your m is a whole number it would be that number over 1 in this case its a fraction 1/2 so go up 1 and over to the right 2 and place another point from that point go up again once and over 2 and place another . to go the opposite direction from the original point you need to go down 1 and to the left 2 and place a point. The dots should have made line.

ok i have another question.....y=-1/4x-1 I dont know why it keeps turning out to be a probala

The only thing different here is the intercept will be under the x axis and the slow is -1/4 so you go down 1 and over to the right 4

ah welll make a table like this |dw:1378256540590:dw| now in the equation ....instead of x put each one of those numbers and solve for y and put the answer in the other side. for example for your first problem it would be y = 1/2(-2) +2 1/2 mutiplied by -2 is -1 and add 2 to that to get 1 ...so the x , y values for that would be -2 for x and 1 for y

i know but when im doing the graph its turning out to be a probal ffor some reason....wheres
anonymous

-.25 x -2 is .5 , -.25 x -1 is .25 , -.25 x 0 is 0 , and so on ..remember to add the y intercept ot it...since your y instecept is negative ...just subtract it from those answers

parabola shouldn't be there
