One way that writing can shape one's thinking is by organizing one's thoughts into a coherent stream that makes sense. Many poets write poetry that reflects the emotional events in their lives at the time. Not only do these times make for good poetry material. the process of writing the poem puts these emotions and thoughts, which are often very chaotic and confusing, into a form that makes sense. Writing forces us to stop or slow down what is going on in our minds and organize our thoughts into something more meaningful. this is just one way that writing shapes our thoughts. Can you think of any others?
