Does anyone know if you can just get rid of the parenthesis and solve the question that way???

so basically you can add the first two to get p^3, and if there are no matches in the next parentheses then yes you can get rid of them. You add the 1 p^3 to the 8p^3 for 9 p^3-12p^2, then pull the 3 out of both for a final answer of 3(3p^3-4p^2.) Hope this helps :)
