solve for x
@nincompoop Yes the first thing you need to do is solve for x
are you just looking for an answer?
Yea, but I got x(x-9), so x=0 and x=9?
then put that as your answer and see if it is correct. though I think it is wrong
y=x(x-9), there's no zero so those above weren't it
Thank you, you didn"t have to.
Where did the 9/2 come from?
complete the square take half of b then square it (9/2)^2
So it wouldn't be x^2-9x?
x^2 - 9x + (9/2)^2 = -20 + (9/2)^2
x^2+9x+81/4=-1/4 becomes x^2+9x+82/4 becomes x^2+9x+41/2
Sorry, I did it wrong 20-81/4 equals -40 1/4. Add that to each side it becomes x^2+9x+60 1/2 =0.
81/4 - 20
Do I use the quadratic formula?
you don't have to use quadratic formula but you can if you want to
@Data_LG2 Is this the right eqaution x^2+9x+60 1/2 (mixed number) =0?
give me a sec. to read all of these..
I think it's supposed to be -9x instead of positive 9x.
nin is right..this is my method...almost same x=a, y=-20 -20=x^2-9x 0=x^2-9x+20 then factor x^2-9x+20...
So x=4 and x=5?
Thank you for all you've done.
Thank you so much @nincompoop for all you have done. I appreciate it greatly! Thank you for being there as long as you were.
yes, you are right:)
