That is the wrong answer, the only way for her to do it is to multiply 49 times 9 which is 441 then take the square root of that which is 21 so it would be (x+21)(x-21) and since she would multiply she would have to divide what she mulitplied by and 21/49 is 3/7 which is (x+3/7) times (x-3/7)

Ha, uh.. no. There's this thing called the Code of Conduct that you follow. Have you read it? It might help you from getting banned from the site. And your answer is still wrong.

Well let's see, if we factor what you gave we get this: \[x^2-\frac{9}{49}\]

The 49 out side of quadratic is significant

Wouldn't it just be easier to say: (7x-3)(7x+3)? -_-
KenLJW
  • KenLJW
you could but usually I make x coefficient 1, much easier to solve

why not just make it easy since it is the difference of 2 squares... \[(7x - 3)(7x + 3) =49x^2 - 9\]

it problem is more about identifying perfect squares than anything else.
