good so now you have 3x + 2 - 2/5 solve 2- 2/5 then combine those two terms and you got your answer

my teacher got the answer 8 over 5 thats y im confused on how
anonymous
  • anonymous
or 10 over 5 ..something like that
anonymous
  • anonymous
8 over 5 is also correct
anonymous
  • anonymous
so how do u get that
anonymous
  • anonymous
this is why... do you know what 5/5 equals?
anonymous
  • anonymous
1?
anonymous
  • anonymous
exactly now so 8/5 -5/5 leaves you with 3/5 but really that 5/5 is 1 so your answer in mixed number is 1 and 3/5 but in improper fraction form your answer would be ... 1 = 5/5 so we add the 3/5 and you get ... =8/5 so basically its the same answer just in different forms
