what is the sum of 3a+b+a+b?

    To solve this, we simply add the like terms together, such as (3a+a) and (b+b).

    Therefore, 3a+b+a+b = (3a+a) + (b+b)...

    if it helps you, for just the letters that do not have a number with them, put a 1 in front of them. Example : b + b = 1b + 1b
