How am I supposed to do good on comprehension tests for reading class but I cannot study for it? They give us a random passage and questions. Also, the test has a time limit. Thank you in advance!

Hey there, Anthony8! :) The basic idea to tackle comprehension tests is to rely solely on the information the passage contains and use it to draw conclusions and inferences. It is a test of your ability to understand the information presented to you, and analyse it logically. Don't get too scared; just read the passage and it will contain all the key points you need. Since time is clearly a concern for you, I'll give you an approximate break-up: Suppose you have 20 minutes to complete this comprehension test. Spend about a minute skim-reading the passage. Then spend a minute to read the questions below it. Then spend at least 2 minutes and not more than 5 giving it a detailed read. Highlight the points you think are important/ relevant if you find that convenient. (Use the fact that you have an idea of what the questions are to your advantage while highlighting.) Then answer the questions calmly. Leave about 2-3 minutes at the end to check your answers. If you'd like me to answer a sample comprehension test, I'd love to help. Post a sample here and I'll answer it. I hope this helped. :)
