Sanjay has $65 to spend at the mall. He bought a T-shirt for $18 and a belt for $14. If Sanjay wants a pair of jeans, how much can he spend?

    Let x be the amount he can spend. Amount he spends = amount of T-shirt + amount of belt + amount of jeans = 18 + 14 + x Since the amount he spends cannot be greater than the amount he has, so we have 18+14+x = 65 Solve x.
