The Parliament of the United Kingdom is bicameral, composed of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. In modern times, the House of Commons has much more power than the House of Lords. The House of Commons is the only chamber that can propose legislation on finances, and it has the power to pass any legislation without the approval of the House of Lords—the House of Lords can only delay legislation that it does not agree with. Furthermore, the prime minister must be a member of the House of Commons.
