    no solution would be if you simplified it and got 3=6 (or something strange) identity means infinite solutions and it would simplify to soemthing that is always true like 3=3 4=4... or x=x

    4 – t = 3(t – 1) – 5 => 4 - t = 3t - 3 - 5 => 4 - t = 3t - 8 = > 12 = 4t => t = 3
