(-2/6)/(3/4) = (-2/6)*(4/3) to divide fractions, multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction

    There are a couple of ways to do this... 3/4z - 1/6 = - 1/2......to get rid of fractions, multiply everything by the common denominator of 12 (12)3/4z - (12)1/6 = (12) - 1/2 9z - 2 = - 6 --- add 2 to both sides 9z = -6 + 2 9z = -4 z = -4/9 OR THIS WAY 3/4z - 1/6 = -1/2 --- add 1/6 to both sides 3/4z = -1/2 + 1/6 3/4z = - 3/6 + 1/6 3/4z = -2/6 -- divide both sides by 3/4 z = (-2/6) / (3/4) z = -2/6 * 4/3 z = - 8/18 which reduces to - 4/9
