## dan815 one year ago Some changes 'O.S. QH' system can use :- Please read below. :) This article talks about how to implement a new type of Q.H. system, talking about a different marketing approach, while still maintaining the same return, and possibly increasing demand. How this new framework could allow more payment Options, also ideas on how owl bucks could be allocated. Some changes 'O.S. QH' system can use :- I don't mind having the qualified helper rating but, I think that rating system should be designed differently. We should make the users answer a simpler question after they finish receiving a reply. The question should ask them, prompting, Did you find this Q.H 'helper name(s)' useful? They should answer, "yes or no", and that's it, this way multiple people who participated can receive some owl bucks. Also the Qualified Helpers can simply have an additional option added in their status to keep track of the new data. They can have a counter for Qualified Questions answered, and Qualified rating score(or QH medal score), it can go right under the questions answered and medals received status in the profile page of a user. The rating score will be like medals, it goes up every time someone says "Yes, this QH has helped in in a question". This way the medals and the QH help can serve as the rating of a user, or it can be another indicator at the least. This way we are back to having all these new options acting the same way as everything else in OS, similar to current design and motif. However, if we are to indeed consider this way of a split, we should change the premiss of qualified help questions. The premiss should be that people are buying color coded questions(with some 'advantages'). The reason being that, your question is sure to be answered, as O.S. is taking the role of a more assertive advertiser of your question, in a manner which the qualified helpers are also notified of your question. They would be willing to help your faster, and they are urged with the added incentive of what they receive for answering your question. Also by having a question colored, it will urge the other users which are not QHers to also help you faster, because they could be looking to become QH too, or the color just draws their attention, people just like to participate in big gatherings, who knows... All sorts of reasons.. This idea I think is a good one : Where the user is sold an accessory, that is able to notify multiple users, motivates QH help and have an eye catching question displayed when asking. One final consideration on how I think OS should split the money is.. OS system should also act as a qualified helper. For example, when there is only 1 QH, then the money is split, 2 ways.. the 10 into 5 and 5 When there are 2 QH helping, the money should be split 3 ways 3.33 and 3.33 and 3.34, the 0.01 can go to OS :) basically for n QH helpers The money should be split n+1 ways equally and if there is rounding that can go to OS. This will open new possibilities for OS... And can give the users more control on their owl bucks. Let the user be able to pick between 5 10 20, as their choices for the owl bucks being used on the question... And the higher owl bucks offered can be seen as urgency or more incentive for people, reasons for greater incentive are stated earlier in this post. P.S. * I picked 5 10 20, because if this system is indeed working then OS will still receive 10 owl buck per questions on average. However now at the sweet interest of a better defined system, along with more possible buyers and demand for the study site, OPENSTUDY.com * Some useful stuff: -------------- Exact method of splitting to a 2 decimal approximation. for dem Owl cents, cuz just common 'sense' bruh $;) *_* Let P be the price or cost of question Let n be the number if QH helpers player.money=money each individual QH gets $player.money=\frac{floor[(\frac{P}{(n+1)}*100]}{100}$ OS.money=P-(n*player.money) *One other side note* I also believe this would change your marketing scheme, now you will cover the probability of users who are willing to pay, upto not just but 'upto' 10 owl bucks (think binomial distribution, and introducing some chances of people willing to pay more, there are some drawbacks, which is that we are willing to lose a portion of the number of people paying 10 owl bucks, we would lose them to paying 5 or 20 owl bucks, and if we lose only 1/4th of the peole paying 10 owl bucks, but the lost are split between the 5 and 20 in a 2:1 ratio (meaning out of 3 lost, 2 of them pay 5 and 1 pays 20) we would still make all the money back. It all depends and is a bit situational, especially now that this can increase the demand of the 'Color-Coded-Question with benefits'. What we've effectively accomplished is changing the name of the question, and the premiss of what the user is buying, while keeping the cost per question equal and a probability of increasing demand. In addition we're also creating a framework, which can be experimented with easier. Now further research can be done about the maximizing costs to chose for profits when it comes to these 'color coded questions with benefits'(new QH questions). This could be implemented in a new patch for a trial period for a couple weeks, to see if it works. :) One final note the number stated in this post is only for an attempt at maximizing, if you are afraid of losses, the numbers can be readjusted to 10,15,20. So people who still pay 10, will probably continue to pay 10 and a small fraction will go to 15 and 20 sometimes... However I dont believe this is in the nature of O.S. And this goes against all the fun of having to see if more users can be added and participating in the action *And for fun** http://en.lichess.org/otq4luEq enjoy :) iam white • This Question is Closed 1. anonymous oh, wow. Ok, that is an awesome post. Many good ideas. Some on the roadmap. Thanks Dan. These ideas coming from a QH are particularly valuable. I liked your other idea of having a tab for QH. I like this other idea of just naming it "star questions" sort of like bumped questions. In my way of thinking, you are paying as an asker to get your question some prominence. "oranged". Then what happens after that is people and QH answer it. If a QH answers it you are asked to rate. If you like the response of a user better - a nonQH, you could give them a "best answer" and they get 2 medals instead of 1.
