CH3-CH2-CH2-CH=CH2 Since this has a double bond, it is an alkene, so its name will end in -ene. CH3-C=C-CH3 This compound does not exist since there are two carbons with only three bonds, and carbon will Always have four bonds. However, if the = is a triple bond, then the compound would be named, 2-butyne, but if the compound is supposed to be CH3-CH=CH-CH3, then the compound would be 2-butene. The final compound is 4-ethyl-1-heptene. Since the longest chain has seven carbons, we use the prefix hept-. Numbering always starts with the most important functional group, which is the double bond. Since this is on the first carbon the name of the longest chain is 1-heptene. The ethyl is on the fourth carbon so we add the 4-ethyl to get the full name 4-ethyl-1-heptene.
