    well seems onece again i'm wrong proportions works with the second 22 out of 50 are females out of 800 x=800 times 22 all divided by 50

    First one, you have 30 fish among 84, that's \(\frac{ 30*100 }{ 84 } = 35.7\)% of total fish taged, and you need to find what's the number at 100%. Second, same thing 22 females out of 50, that's 44%. Find 44% of 800. Last 4 wires are defective out of 100, that's 4% defective wires, find 4% of 750.

    Not quite... if the fish he tagged (180) represents 35.7% of the total, don't you think the number of total fish would actually be bigger ?

    Well we shouldn't be guessing if we can calculate: 120 is 35.7% of the total, so the total would be 120*100/35.7
